Tip of the Week #27: Now Is The Time To Shop For Furniture Deals
July 12th, 2007 by markdownmomJuly is the month to consider buying that piece of furniture you had your eye on the past few months. Most furniture stores will be changing their stock this month in preparation for Fall inventory, and this season changeover usually translates into 25% discount with greater reductions on display models. Remember to always negotiate the final price because the mark-up on furniture is more than on other goods. Plus, most stores that are solely dedicated to selling furniture will include free delivery and set-up.
Seasonal, outdoor furniture should have its’ first markdown taken already, and unless the item is extremely limited you can usually wait until it is reduced by 50% or greater. Don’t hesistate to ask about display units such as arbors even if they do not have a tag. Just ask the store manager if it’s for sale, and how much.
Another way to save big $$$ is to deal with the manufacturer directly for closeouts, this may be at a licensed distributor’s local outlet or at their factory. However, shipping/delivery is usually arranged and paid for by the customer. Be sure to figure in this cost when making your decision.
