Betsey Johnson Stores Going Out of Business Sale!

Recently MarkdownMom was in San Francisco and while bargain shopping in  the Westfied Mall walked into a super sale at the Betsey Johnson Store thinking that this was a singular store closing–au contraire.  Betsey Johnson has had to file for bankruptcy; the silver lining is that she will continue as creative director of the line that will still be marketed by Macy’s and other retailers.

What does this mean for bargain hunters?  Right now you will find her apparel, jewelry and shoes at the stores that are closing at 40%-60% off and more.   However, you have to hurry because inventory is shrinking because of these  fabulous savings.

Additionally, current prices at her online site are reduced  40%-65%.

Plus MarkdownMom found select pieces of her jewelry reduced 50% at Macys and other retailers.

Quit Monkeying Around, Only 3 Days Left To Xmas!

Well, the Wednesday One Day Only Web Busters at Macy’s was too good to pass up and well, time is growing short so MarkdownMom stayed up to 12:01 A.M. last night so that she could grab a few goodies like the 1 ctw. diamond hoop earrings reg. $250 for $69.99!  Yes, they are only 5/8″ and it’s true that they are sterling silver and not gold, but 1 ctw., come on!  However, watch out for a pricey shipping rate.

Some sites don’t post their daily bargains until around 6 a.m., however, MarkdownMom reasoned that it was worth seeing if she could secure this diamond earring bargain as early as possible since quantities were limited. I mean really there are only 3 days left to self-gift!~

Now JCPenney has a terrific Wednesday Steal today of this gorilla robot, reg.$99 for $19.99.  Further, you can have this sent to the store to save shipping.  Now this little baby will require batteries, but it has more than 100 features and animations, remote control, and 2 rocket launchers!  I mean two rockets!  Wow-e-e!!!  Just make sure that your child gets the opportunity to play with it also.

Remember These Wednesday Steals are available today only!

I Spy Daily Deals At The Mall

Malls are getting into the act of enticing customers to shop with their Deal of the Day.  At Rosedale in Roseville, Minnesota, customers can find a listing for deals that day at the Mall.  Although not all listings are “deals,” this does provide the Mall bargain hunters not only with coupons, but information on bogo and other sales.

Today, the Rosedale Mall has a coupon for Carter’s children apparel for 20%off and 50% off holiday apparel, Bogo offering on jeans from Vanity, 25% off Men’s purchases of $100 at Macy’s, 20% off entire purchase coupon at Children’s Place and more.

Check online for deals by malls located near you–you may be surprised!

The Dregs Of Summer Offer Real Bargains!

It’s September and one can only visualize those great summer sales of July and August, but don’t give up yet!  Even though the inventory of those clearance buys is extremely limited, the price reductions of 75% to 90% off more than make up for the lack of selection.

Since consumers have shied away from luxury items like jewelry, you will find some great bargains in this category.  MarkdownMom found some great finds at Shopko and Macys with real gemstone and stone jewelry at bargain basement prices.

For instance, at Shopko an entire collection of earrings, necklace, and bracelett of black agate over $220+ retail individually priced, came to under $30.  A green leather purse from Kenneth Cole Unlisted Collection reg.$78, was bargain priced at $15.80, and Isotoner sandals, reg.$24, now only $4.99.  Plus for you gardeners, ornamental grasses  and hostas were $2 a pot, and spirea  bush $5!  All can be planted this Fall for Spring and Summer enjoyment next year.

At Macy’s MarkdownmMom Chics bought a turquoise necklaced reg.$100, under $20.  Even online a brown gauze skirt that can still be worn during early Fall in most parts of the country reg. $44, sale priced $14.40, and graphic tee reg. $24, for $4.99!  Online use promo code:  SAVEMORE for an additional 15% off.

Instead of Christmas In July, September Is Time To Capture Bargains for Christmas!

At The Mall: Store Closing And More…

The Décor, a gift store, located in the Roseville Mall in Roseville, Minnesota is going out-of-business.  With jewelry, household decorating, and unique apparel, the bargain hunter has an opportunity to find that special pièce de resistance for the home and a little personal bling at closing store prices.

Macys Online get an extra 25% off Plus Size Clearance.   Add this to clearance already marked down 40%-80%, deals are just waiting to be scooped up!

Summer Heat Means Sizzlin' Sales!

*Macy’s.  This retailer has been discounting merchandise the past two weeks with clearance racks up to 80% off.  Stock is limited at that level; however, there remains a good selection of merchandise at 65% off.

Herbergers.  Like it’s sister store, Younkers, yellow dot clearance marked up to 60% off last markdown.  MarkdownMom found Ralph Lauren, Evan-Picone and other designers at terrific savings.  Check out their ºyellow dot shoe sale that includes summer sandals.

Target and WalMart.  These retailers have controlled their inventory and stock is limited on apparel.  MarkdownMom finds high-end retailers mentioned are a better bet for higher quality designer merchandise at competitive prices.  However, check out summer hard goods for lawn and patio, in addition to electronics. Stores are beginning to stock Back-to-School.

Home Shopping Networks.  You will continue to see markdowns and increased number of easy pay, value pays, and flex pay payments extending consumer payments on merchandise bought.  However, markdowns are usually less than mortar and bricks retailers, but for big ticket items of electronics this may be the way to go.  One caveat is to compare prices with other retailers before weighing in on monthly payments for the best deal.

Auto Sales.  Because of the Cash for Clunkers and the cost of new cars, inventory of preowned vehicles is down and prices reflect that.  However, next month the new models will be coming out and trade-ins should ease this shortage.  If you are looking for a new car, start looking for deals on 2010 vehicles as sales are down and dealers are more inclined to make a sale.

TIP:  Retailers inventory was heavy going into summer and financial experts expect that will continue  into Back-to- School especially retailers like Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle Outfitters, so you may see early Back -to- School markdowns.
