‘Splish, Splash’ Isn’t A Song Your Microwave Should Be Singing
October 27th, 2007 by markdownmomWell, we tried wax paper, paper toweling, and everyone knows what happens when you use foil to warm up or cook items in your microwave–you haven’t seen a light show like that since the 4th of July! Paper toweling won’t produce a light show, but like wax paper unless it’s tucked under, it flies all over the place and
doesn’t really prevent the splatters from the food hitting the sides of the microwave. And if you don’t cover the item, you run the risk of creating a fault line in the middle and petrifying the ends–remember that last hot dog? And who wants to buy a million plastic containers with lids from a home shopping network just to warm up or thaw items, besides storage problems you spend half your life trying to find the right lid. I mean really, don’t we have better things to do and if you spend your time in preparation, how fast is the microwave then?
Well, IKEA® has come to the rescue with an item under $5. Looking like an upside down pie plate, this plastic vented dome is great to place over any dish and at 2 ½" high and 10" circumference and built-in handle, this kitchen tool should support a lot of your microwave cooking needs. You can even get fancy and keep the dish warm by keeping it covered until presented–it will really spruce up that chicken fingers t.v. dinner, don’t you know!
