Dear MarkdownMom, Thought I should tell you the reason why you are seeing so many sales on ballet flats, especially at department stores, like JCPenny…..ballet flats are now out of style. In California those shoes are now being replaced with a soft-looking mule with a small heel. No one is featuring ballet flats on the runway these days.
Dear shoediva: Thank you so much for your input. Since I was born in Hollywood, CA and lived in the southern part, I am always happy to get news from there. Having done runway shows when I was modeling, these shows are usually a season or two ahead. In fact, Las Vegas in February will be hosting a trade show for the upcoming summer lines with many of the top fashion and accessories designers. As you know, not everyone for one reason or another, including comfort , can wear the latest "trends." Diversity in fashion is welcomed allowing tailoring a look to the individual. I believe that is why Bloomies and other stores are continuing to show models wearing ballet flats along with platforms, stilletos, mules and clogs. MDM considers ballet flats to be a classic and a wonderful look coupled with leggings or dresses or tops with ballet necklines, and for the present holiday season, these are a great buy from JCPenney. Again, thank you for the advance tip and for being such a loyal viewer. Markdown Mom.
