Power Plate–The Next Generation in Exercise Equipment?
January 15th, 2007 by markdownmomPower Plate USA© is a new exercise machine that touts low impact conditioning through vibrations. It features anti-aging properties such as cellulite reduction, improved strength and bone density, circulation and stamina without putting a strain on muscles and joints.
The Power Plate produces stretch reflex on muscles creating contractions by electronic stimuli. MDM knows of electonic vibrations being employed by physical therapists for treatment of some arthritic conditions. However, we have seen versions of electronic stimulation of muscles on TV commercials over the years that resulted in little or no toning results and questionable use for weight reduction.
In this busy society where time is at a premium reportedly this machine reduces exercise to a 10 minutes session 3 to 4 times a week. With a price tag of just under $4000 (with shipping) be sure to do your research and as with any exercise regime or equipment, you should consult a doctor prior to purchase or use.

I was Power-Plates Product Manager from 2003-2004. I am now a dsigner of full commercial products.
The home units recently released by PowerPlate do not live up to the ideals of the original company and are trading only on the ” goodwill ” others hard work.

Article stated that vibration creates contractions via electronic stimulation. Totally untrue. It is a mechanical stimulation, similar to the patellar tendon reflex at your physician’s office.
Vibration training has been used successfully with MS patients, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia etc. These individuals, for the most part, cannot exercise conventionally!
