Good, Butter, Best!

Keller Creamery is the source of one of the best kept secrets by pastry and culinary chefs. Plugrá®, a european style butter, that has a higher fat content and, therefore, a richer flavor and lower water content is the preferred cooking and pastry butter for gourmets. MDM first became aware of this wonderful butter when shopping at Sam’s Club years ago; however, it did not catch on and so was discontinued. Last Fall, MDM found it again in the food department of a Target Super Store™for $2.79. Plugrá, from the French plus gras meaning more fat, comes in salted, unsalted, and clarified. Target carries the salted and unsalted varieties.
Further, while researching this product, MDM found that Keller Creamery is offering its’ first annual Plugrá Magnifique Recipe Contest. Enter online by filling out an entry form and a copy of your original recipe using Plugrá by July 31st for a chance to win an opportunity to attend a hands on class at the French Pastry School in Chicago, Illinois. There are 6 categories to compete in. While you are at the site, locate a store near you that sells Plugrá and sign-up for money saving coupons and offers. Here’s your chance to make that wonderful coconut cake by chef Robert Carter as seen on Martha’s using the same butter!
C’est Magnifique!
