Mirdle In The Genre of the “Bro”? Fat Chance, This Is For Real!

    Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Mirdle sounds like (1) a flower or (2) a female’s name, but Seinfeld’s gang would know that it’s the current answer to male belly fat. In keeping with the “bro” for man boobs, mirdle is the male equivalent of the girdle. The one difference between the mirdle and the “bro” is that the mirdle is for real! Well, why not…afterall, everyone wants to look her or his best, and sometimes you just have to suck it up! However, it’s hard to hold your breath that long and the mirdle accomplishes the nonsurgical, noninvasive lift to a guy’s midriff and spirits as well.

Plastic surgery, makeup for men, support socks, and now a man’s girdle. Some say “fat chance” that it will take off, but if you really think about it, why not? Many men could benefit from such undergarments not only in the results on their libido, but also to relieve back pain and other health ailments by tummy weight. Spanx® is currently investigating this idea, and others like Go Softwear already have a padded butt brief and is planning a man’s waist eliminator, Andrew Christian Flashback Butt Lifter™,Solidea® men’s contour underwear, Undergear® Body Shapers®, and in Japan there is the Wacoal ex walker.

Wonder what Kramer would think of these?

    I Robot, U Robot

    Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Isaac Asimov once said, “I do not fear computers, I fear the lack of them.”  Certainly, we live in a digital age that Asimov would approve.  We have robots that will vacuum and clean our floors (iRobot and Scoomba), navigate us through highways (GPS), and even make a grocery list when we need to restock our refrigerators.  MDM has found the newest and hottest robot models that are sure to make you smile.

    MarkDownMom’s Top 3 ‘Robots’:

    1) Gibson Robot Guitar.  Gibson has created the first robotic guitar.  The Gibson guitar tunes itself (tune control bridge) so that you will never robot guitarhave to worry about playing a sour note.  Also, the Gibson guitar contains a lithium battery that when charged for 90 minutes allows the player to use for 200 tunings.  Since this is the first ‘run’ with the robotic guitar, supplies are limited.  The Gibson Robot Guitar is valued at $2,499.

liquid image2) Liquid Image Scuba Goggles.  Don’t you love underwater photos?  Now you can feel like a photographer for National Geographic with the Liquid Image Underwater Digital Camera Mask.  The camera mask features 3.1 mega-pixel photos and video and it is easy to use!  Simply connect mask to your computer with a USB chord, no additional software is required.  To purchase camera goggles e-mail sales@Liquidimageco.com.  Orders are currently being placed for March 2008 shipments.

    3) Brian the Brain Interactive Digital Roommate.  This is a great robot for kids that will actually help in their Brian the Braineducation.  Brian the Brain, sold by Sharper Image, is an artificial intelligence (AI) system that will help with homework, play games and tell jokes.   He contains the entire Encyclopedia Britannica, history timeline, personal organizer, and much more.  Brian the Brain is valued at $119.95.

Tip of the Week #38: Celeb Glam At ‘Rock’ Bottom Price$

    Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008
MarkDownMom’s Top 5 To Do List To Become  A Rockstar:

    1) Buy vocal and guitar lessons

    2) Create a one word signature name, hey, it worked for Cher

    3) Take dance lessons

    4) Find yourself an entourage, check to see if Jeremy Piven is available

    5) Get really cool makeup

Let’s start with number five.  The latest rage is head turning eyelashes.  For all those Madonna fans out there, she has been seen wearing mink and diamond accented eyelashes by Shu Uemura.  To purchase an exact replica of Madonna’s luscious lashes, you will have to pay a whopping $10,000.00.  However, if your money needs to go to more important things, like paying the rent, this isn’t a viable option.  Don’t worry, there is no need to lose out on the latest fashion buzz, Markdownmom has discovered several sites that offer the same Madonna look but at a fraction of the cost.

    1) Go to Shu Uemura Directly.  You can purchase Shu Uemura Dazzling Black Diamante False Eyelashes for $25.00.  No mink involved.
    2)  Visit Sephora In Store or Online.  MDM likes Sephora’s false glitter eyelashes for $8.00

Pick Up Everything That Santa Forgot

    Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

Despite the start of the New Year, sales on holiday items and other merchandise can still be found in store and online.  This is the perfect time to pick up anything that Santa forgot and to start shopping for the next holiday season.

JCPenny© is having a holiday clearance sale, featuring 50-70% off.  MDM found this great Ipod Nano Bling Case, orig. $24.99, steal for $5.99, in the online outlet store.  The bling case is a great way to show off your new tech gear and at this price you can afford to get it in many colors.  Ipod Nano Bling Case comes in blue, clear, pink and purple.

    Macy*s©
is also having a holiday clearance of 20-65% off.  The major steals are to be found in women’s apparel.  Big, bold colors are hot this year and the Miss Chievous Colorblock Emma Top, orig. $28.00, steal for $8.40, fits the ticket.  The Emma top looks great with black leggings or dark wash denim.  Top comes in plum/black or whipped cream/ black, sizes small - large.

Kohl’s© has fantastic savings on men’s apparel, 60-80 % off.  MDM found Chaps 3 pack of ribbed brown dress socks, orig. $14.00, steal for $2.80.  With the sock monster running rampant in the laundry room, this is one bargain you can’t afford to lose.

Toys R Us© has a 60% off clearance blowout.  This is a great opportunity to pick up toys for future holidays and birthdays.  MDM likes the Imaginext: Motorized T-Rex Gift Set, orig. 32.99, steal for $ 9.98.  Gift set comes with T-rex and Pteranodon, appropriate for ages 3-8 years.  3AA batteries are required.

    Markdown Mom’s 10 Top Holiday Gifts #5

    Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Batting one’s eyelashes has been a traditional characteristic of a vamp or seductress.  Today, it’s just part of lookin’ good, girl!  But we aren’t all born with luxurious long lashes.  So what to do?

Well, you can apply a strip of lashes with glue–hopefully the ends will not pull loose at an inconvenient moment, or fall off and end up floating in your drink at dinner.

Also, you can apply lashes individually, but they get bent, facing every direction on your lid from sleeping, and when you remove them–there goes the eyelash including yours.

The answer is the hottest thing in Japan, the Imju Figiwig Mascara from Sephora.  This product creates that "false eyelash look" by coating your natural lashes with jet black fibers–extending the length of your lash and the thickness.  Smudgeproof and waterproof, too–how cool is that?  Because this product is so popular, you cannot get it instore at Sephora, but MDM found it online at Amazon® for $22.00.  If you purchase $75 or more of Sephora products, you can get free shipping.   This is a great gift for that special lady in your life–yourself, or even for other female friends or family members!  But hurry, before Amazon sells out, too!

    Top 10 Markdown Mom’s Holiday List #3

    Thursday, December 13th, 2007

In an era of robots with Japan having a working robot that can make coffee and serve it,  at times it seems that futuristic home is just around the corner.   The Roomba®, Scooba®, GPS are some of MDM’s favorite robotic tools.  Can you imagine how great an extra pair of robotic hands, notwithstanding grave warnings of such classic movies as 2001 A Space Odyssey, could mean around the house!  Such musings seem a little premature, or are they?

If money is no object, some of this technology is available today.  However, despite the robotic cleaners, most of the technology is literally in the toy stage.  Besides virtual sports and games, comes this little guy Pleo, a UGOBE life form.  This is the perfect pet!  This adorable dinosaur, because of its sophisticated sensory system that reactes and interacts with you, takes on the characteristics and responses unique to your home environment and family.  Talk about one-of-a-kind gifts!  But it carries a hefty price tag of $349.99 at Amazon® &  Target. free shipping.  For those kids who love robotics with a space-age look, check out other offerings like the WowWee Roboquad 4 Legged Spider reg.$99.99, sale price $89.99 and the WowWee Robosapion full function humanoid, reg.$299.99, sale price $199.99 at both sites.

“What Price Do You Want To Pay For Fall Fashion?” Metallic Jeans Part 2 Series #2

    Saturday, October 20th, 2007

It would only seem a natural progression of the "bling" look from gem embellished jeans to metallic or metallic washed jeans.  The idea is great when we think of the success and look of  metallic leather of the last few seasons.  However, it seems that there is some debate as to the fit of jeans infused with the metallic color and the look you want to achieve.  Most of the metallic fabric jeans currently on the market fall into two categories:  subtle or  glaring.  So, the consumer must decide what part of her personality she wants to bring out with this fashion statement.  Both have equal standing as part of  the fashion world trends.  MDM reviewed several offerings of the look:

Metrostyle™ has these  Back Belt Metallic  stretch jeans in gold and silver for $34.99, misses sizes only 6-20.

HSN, Diane Gilman, DG2,  has several jeans in bronze, silver and gold–although the gold and silver  may be over the top with the side seam embellishments.  Prices run from $69.90-$76.90, with 3 flex pays.   DG2 does offer these jeans in all sizes, but first showing sold out, so you may have to order on waitlist or wait for the second go around.

Nordstrom’s Joe’s Jeans ‘Honey’ metallic stretch jeans come in bronze metallic and navy metallic, sizes 0-12, $174.00.  These are subtler than counterparts made with Lurex®.

Treated with a metallic sheen, this rich and sleeky pair of jeans offered by Shopbop.com. with sought after skinny leg and look of distressed jeans with a silver metallic sheen, sizes up to 12, for $216.00 + free ground shipping.
